85 Sky Tower Hotel is the architectural symbol of Kaohsiung as an international oceanic, touristic and friendly city. It has a total of 85 floors and is 367 meters tall. Construction started in 1994 and was finished in 1997.
The View Deck on the 74th floor is served by three NT$140 million high-speed elevators, which are the third fastest in the world and can travel from the first to the 75. The main construction investors were the two consortiums Tuntex and Chien Tai Cement. C. Y. Lee Architect Co. was responsible for architectural design, and T. Y. Lin International was responsible for structural design. Other construction work was undertaken by Turner International, Cermak Peterka Petersen, Chun Yuan Steel Co. Taiwan and Evergreen Heavy Industry Corp.
The 85 Sky Tower is at numbers 1, 3, 5 and 7 of Ziqiang 3rd Road in Lingya District of Kaohsiung, the eastern side of the building stretches along 20 meters of Ziqiang 3rd Road, the southern side take up 80 meters of Xinguang Road, the northern side takes up 25 meters of San-duo Road, and the western side takes up half an alleyway behind Chenggong Road. The 85 Sky Tower is in the Sanduo Commercial District, which has great potential for prosperity and development, with its six department stores and three movie theatres complexes. Furthermore, the tower is conveniently situate by major land, sea and air transportation centers, including the Sea and Land Transportation Hub, Kaohsiung International Airport, Kaohsiung International Commercial Harbor, Xinguang Pier, Ocean Star, Zhongshan Highway, and R8 KMRT Station.

There are three international airports, Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH), Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), and Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA). The average flight time from Taiwan to major cities in the Asia-Pacific region is only two-and-a-half hours. A direct flight from the West Coast of the U.S. to Taiwan takes only 12 hours. The convenient international airport for the conference is the Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH).

Main gate of 85 Sky Tower Hotel is at Xinguang road. The only way to 38F - 70F is takeing the elevator which is at left side after entering the main gate area.
